SEA SHELLS...

This video shows very cute and small seashells.  They are of different colors.  I was inspired to video this scene when I went to the beach with my friends on a campus holiday.  If we talk about these sea shells, they are of different sizes.

Seashells are the hard, protective outer layers of creatures like snails, clams and oysters. They're usually made of calcium carbonate, a strong material that keep the creatures safe. Think of them as tiny houses that protect the animal inside.

When the animal dies, the shell is left behind. This is what we often find on beaches. Each type of shell has a unique shape and pattern and some can be very colourful and beautiful.

Types of Seashells:

  • Gastropods: These are single-shelled creatures like snails and conchs. They have a spiral shape.
  • Bivalves: These have two shells that are hinged together, like calms and oysters.
  • Brachiopods: While they look similar to bivalves, they have a different internal structure and are often found in deeper waters.

How Seashells Grow:

Seashells are created by the animal's mantle, a specialized organ.
The mantle secretes calcium carbonate, which hardens to form the shell.
As the animal grows, the shell also grows by adding layers to the outer edge.

Uses of Seashells:

  • Jewellery: Seashells are often used to create beautiful necklaces, bracelets and other accessories.
  • Decorations: Seashells can be used to decorate homes or gardens.
  • Tools: In the past, seashell were used as tools, such as spoons or currency.

As well as the largest known seashell is the Queen Conch, which can grow up to 12 inches long. Some seashells can be very old. scientists have found seashells that are millions of years old.
